Brief Biography

Kim has over 35 years of leadership experience, including 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, from tactical troop handling to organizational command, and over 15 years as the president of her consulting company, Curriculum & Training Solutions, LLC, leading a variety of teams in several different organizations. She has 6

years of faculty experience, including teaching and evaluating training at two Marine Corps schools and at three universities. Kim is certified as a coach through the International Coach Federation at the PCC level. As a coach, Kim utilizes research-based assessments and supportive questioning to help her clients identify and recognize their strengths and blind spots, clearly define goals, and establish a plan of action to support their growth to achieve their highest potential.

Curious about the differences between Marine Corps leadership and non-military leadership, Kim spent several years looking for ways to combine the two. After finding the research-based Everything DiSC and Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team assessments and applying the principles of these tools with multiple teams, she found something that aligned with her military experience and expertise in a non-imposing way. As an accredited facilitator of Everything DiSC and the Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, she is able to help teams enhance their work relationships, manage conflict, and improve communication skills.

Kim not only teaches teams how to work better, but she also has led several teams after her Marine Corps service. She was an instructional designer and later promoted to program manager for a $10.1 million contract to create a Competency Assessment Center for the VA Acquisition Academy, completing the project

on time and within budget. She also has extensive experience in developing, conducting, and evaluating training and education programs and in conducting research for federal government agencies (DoD, DHS, FAI, and ACE). Her research also includes evaluation of the Marine Corps Wounded Warrior program,

defining quality in online education for the Penn State World Campus, and researching military personnel and veterans’ with disabilities and their interest in information technology career fields.

Giving back has always been a priority for Kim. She served as the secretary for Stand Beside Them, Inc., a non-profit organization providing coaching for veterans. When not working, Kim enjoys outdoor activities and exercise and is an active volunteer in her community, from serving as a board member for two different youth sports programs and her HOA to mentoring for the Women’s Resource Center and volunteering as a dog

walker for PAWS. She lives in State College, PA, and is proud to have celebrated her 31st wedding anniversary this year with her husband, Jake, while watching their two young adult children find their places in the world.
