HomePro Bono Opportunities

Pro bono coaching offers a double edge benefit – it provides an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the greater good while promoting the value of the coaching profession. Members may also apply pro bono hours toward ICF certifications.

Metro DC Chapter Pro Bono Projects

Pro bono projects help organizations or individuals who are not familiar with coaching or cannot afford it. The chapter develops several pro bono projects each year.

We keep a running list of potential volunteers. To sign up, send your coaching bio (including certification information) to As projects develop, we call volunteers from this list of potential volunteers.

Recent Metro DC Chapter pro bono projects include:

● Friendship Place
● Food for Others
● Institute for Educational Leadership
● Teach for America

We also offer pro bono coaching opportunities through IGNITE, an ICF worldwide Initiative that includes more than 60 projects and involves 44 chapters from around the world. These projects are aligned with the United Nations’ sustainability goals and designed to demonstrate how coaching can ignite social progress.

Affiliate Opportunities

In addition to singular projects, we have on-going opportunities for members to become involved in pro bono work. We have alliances with two national organizations who exist to identify pro bono coaching
opportunities and match qualified coaches with recipients.

Individual coaches may access opportunities at any time through:

Stand Beside Them, Inc (SBT) provides qualified coaching services to returning veterans and their families/caregivers to help them more easily reintegrate into civilian life. This includes coaching to help find employment, start new businesses, complete education, improve personal relationships, and locate necessary health care.

Women for Change offers coaching to financially challenged women who want to make a positive change in their lives. Coaches agree to offer 12 hours of coaching which are considered paid coaching hours by the ICF and eligible to receive CCEU credits.
