PRO BONO OPPORTUNITIES

Pro bono coaching offers multiple benefits to coaches who volunteer their time, and to non-profit professionals receiving coaching. It provides an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the greater good, promote the value of the coaching profession, and allows ICF members to earn hours toward ICF certifications -- all while enabling local non-profit leaders to better serve our community.

ICF Metro DC Chapter Pro Bono Projects

Pro bono projects allow our members to partner with a disparate group of nonprofits each year, extending our coaching to organizations not yet familiar with coaching, nor fiscally solvent enough to pay for it. Annually, we select three to nine coaching projects, which vary in size and scope and are located in the greater DC Metro area. Project launches occur in the Fall, Winter, and Summer, with each project lasting between three and four months. All project applications will be reviewed two to three months before each launch period and selected based on the Committee’s criteria.

We invite non-profit organizations meeting the following criteria to express your interest in partnership:

Would not otherwise be able to afford coaching;
Support current needs in our DC Metro Area community;
Are developing leaders and serving as a source of strength for our community.

We invite coaches who meet the following criteria to express your interest in volunteering:

Are a current member of ICF Metro DC in good standing
Have completed an ICF-certified coach training program

Current Cohorts

Arts & Humanities Council of Montgomery County: Together in August, 2021, the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC) and ICF Metro DC launched the AHCMC BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) Emerging Leaders Coaching Cohort (BELCC). When you volunteer, you will provide professional leadership coaching to enhance the careers of emerging BIPOC arts managers in and around Montgomery County, Maryland. We are seeking a diverse bench of coaches for this opportunity.

Joe's Movement Emporium: Established in 1995, Joe’s Movement Emporium is a cultural arts hub that acts as a catalyst for creativity and economic opportunity. Based in Mount Rainier, the Prince George’s Gateway Arts District, Joe’s serves more than 70,000 visitors annually. Its five arts-based youth programs offer a wide variety of high-quality programming in the arts to celebrate the creativity of young people, particularly those from underserved communities.

MedStar Washington Hospital Center Critical Care Department: ICF Metro DC pro bono coaches are currently coaching physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) at Washington Hospital Center, the largest private (non-profit) hospital in Washington DC. Their clients are the intensivists and APPs who provide critical patient care in the multiple intensive care units at the hospital. Coaching provides not only professional development and an opportunity to grow their leadership, but also a way of dealing with the stress of high pressure jobs and achieving better work-life balance.
