Resistance is a natural and inevitable part of any change process, occurring whenever people anticipate change or confront boundaries. Rather than seeing resistance as an obstacle, we can use it as a way of supporting people and promoting healthy and productive growth and development in leaders and groups.

By participating in this session, you will learn about the Gestalt perspective on resistance and ways you can use this to increase your impact. You will be better equipped to help leaders and groups engage productively with resistance, resulting in improved outcomes.

Participants will:

  • Heighten awareness of the different forms that resistance might take, and how to distinguish those variations.
  • Learn approaches to creatively engage with resistance at the level of self, individual, and the group.
  • Gain appreciation of resistance as a normal part of any successful intervention.
