SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS & COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES

In addition to our robust Learning & Development sessions and Coaches Coffee groups, ICF Metro DC and its members offer even more ways to connect and experience enriching coaching-related activities.

Coaching Book Club
ICF Metro DC is home to a Coaching Book Club! Co-led by members Marlee Carlos and Beth Flanagan, this initiative offers coaches an enriching space to learn from leading experts in coaching, adult learning, and behavioral science through books, articles, and various media. These virtual meet-ups provide participants with the chance to learn from one another and build connections through guided discussions. The Coaching Book Club convenes every other month. Look for the next meeting on our Events Calendar

Coaching Dojo
ICF Metro DC is proud to offer a coaching dojo to our chapter's active members who are ACC and PCC certified. The coaching dojo is a safe (virtual) place to deliberately practice with your peers and get feedback to improve and refine your coaching skills. Learn more about it and sign up for a future practice session here

Credentialing Support Group
The ICF Metro DC Credentialing Support Group is designed specifically for chapter members working toward ACC or PCC credentialing. Occurring monthly, it is a place to take next steps in the path toward your new credential, alongside fellow coaches also seeking credentialing. Meetings include:
- A kick-off plenary session led by a senior, at least PCC-credentialed chapter member who is well-versed in the credentialing process, with opportunities to ask questions of/seek clarification from the mentor/leader, share status updates, and/or make requests for barter/study partners/etc.;
- Breakout rooms for practice and/or group discussion on identified topics of interest;
- Large group wrap-up for sharing discoveries and learnings, and connecting for future study/accountability/etc.

We focus on getting people connected in the areas of Accountability and/or Practice Partners; Test Practice resources; and a review of general questions and known resources.  These are not training sessions but discussion and support sessions.  Come prepared to share tips and ideas, make requests for practices, and generally get acquainted with fellow travelers on the (sometimes confusing/always rewarding) journey to attaining your ICF credential. Nature & Outdoor Coaching Community of Practice
The Nature & Outdoor Coaching Community of Practice presents an opportunity for coaches and leaders with a common interest in this specialization to share best practices, personal experiences, and innovative ideas around bringing your practice outside. Meetings are open to all coaches and leaders interested in bringing their practice outside! We offer a robust series of formal learning opportunities, and encourage Community of Practice members to learn and share with one another outside of the facilitated sessions. New Member Meeting

New chapter members are invited to orientation meetings on the third Friday of each month at 2 p.m.  Get connected to our ICF Metro DC Chapter and see what we have to offer! These gatherings serve as a wonderful opportunity for us to share valuable information about our chapter's activities and get to know more about you and how you would like to participate. We discuss various initiatives, events, and projects that you can get involved in, all aimed at fostering a vibrant and engaging community.  Additionally, we encourage you to ask questions, share your ideas, and seek further information on topics of interest to ensure your experience with us is both fulfilling and enriching. Participants have a chance to get to know other new members, ask questions, share your ideas, and set oneself up to have a relationship with the chapter that is both fulfilling and enriching. Support Circle for ICF Metro DC Coaches: In-Person!
This group provides a community-centered space for coaches impacted—personally or through supporting their clients—by what’s happening in the world, especially in the DC area. The focus is on shared humanity, connection, and emotional processing rather than formal learning and development. It offers structured but flexible opportunities to process emotions in a supportive group setting, share insights and wisdom, and cultivate agency and optimism. This group meets in person. Member-Led Meet-Ups

When ICF Metro DC members meet, a lot of ideas and energy are generated. Frequently, these ideas lead to a next conversation, then momentum builds, and before you know it, a new initiative has formed! The chapter's structure allows for connections to be made, and then members make the most of them from there.

When we learn about members who are meeting up regularly and who are open to additional folks joining in, we share those here. These meet-ups may happen regularly or sporadically. They are not managed by the chapter, nor do they award CCEUs.

If you would like to list your member meet-up here, just email us at admin@icfmetrodc.org.
