Biography
I am currently serving as DoD Chief Learning Officer, Civilian Workforce/Director of Talent Development with the Defense Civilian Personnel Advisory Service (DCPAS). In this capacity, I oversee planning and execution of Career and Professional Development and Human Resources Functional Community portfolios, as well as its enterprise civilian leader development programs, for an over 700,000-member civilian workforce. I am a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel who served 25 years on active duty in an array of diverse and culturally complex international affairs, training, and education environments. I was a KC-135 instructor and evaluator navigator; foreign liaison officer; recruiting squadron commander; director of staff for a combat search and rescue wing; deployed training advisor; and international program manager. In particular, I served at the Air Force’s primary leadership development school as an instructor, award-winning faculty lecturer, and curriculum director where I oversaw course development using Instructional Systems Design methods to build, maintain, and deliver courseware for a 14,000- person military, civilian, and international student population annually.
Upon my active-duty retirement, I worked first as an industry consultant providing my expertise to a variety of companies looking to expand their customer reach. I later entered the Federal Civil Service, managing over $129 billion in Foreign Military Sales programs while synchronizing the support activities of multiple U.S. Government and international stakeholders prior to assuming my current duties with DCPAS in 2019.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master of Arts degree in Computer Resources and Information Management from Webster University, a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College and completed the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executive Fellows Program. I am certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and as facilitator for both the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) personality profile and EQ-i/EQ360 Emotional (Intelligence) Quotient Inventory.
To pursue my passion for coaching others to success, I am also a graduate of the Federal Internal Coach Training Program and am an established member of the Federal Coaching Network and International Coaching Federation. My experience includes working with clients from across the Federal Government and internationally. I have coached in multiple DoD leader development programs, OPM's President’s Management Council Interagency Rotation Program and the Presidential Management Fellows Program, and the Defense Contract Management Agency’s Emerging Leaders Program. I currently serve as the Director of the DoD Coach Training Program, as an Assistant Mentor Coach for both OPM and DoD Coach Training Programs, and am credentialed as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) once renewed from ICF.
