About this event

Nature & Outdoor Coaching Community of Practice: Pilgrimage: 1000’s of years of partnership: Kumano Kodo Japan
Facilitated by Russ Watts, Christiane Frischmuth, and Melissa Spence

The Kumano Kodo is one of only two UNESCO World Heritage pilgrimage routes on earth, a 1000-year-old path through the Kii Peninsula where emperors once walked to let go and arrive empty. I walked it this past June, and the experience reshaped how I understand the work we do as coaches: the framework of pilgrimage, the practice of leaving old stories behind, and what it means to be present with someone who is arriving at a threshold. This gathering is an open conversation about what pilgrimage teaches us, about resilience, renewal, and the role of nature and sacred practice in our coaching and in our lives beyond.
