About this event

Nature Offers Metaphor and Mirror

I walked from bright sunlight into shady woodland and reflected on the pleasant change... that made me realise I find it more comfortable “living in the shade” than being the one out in limelight!

There are many opportunities for clients to explore aspects of the landscape that match and illuminate their internal experience.  In this session Lesley Roberts will offer a pinch of science, share some stories, and suggest some stimulus for coaches.  There will also be the chance to share your experiences and ask questions.

About Lesley:

Lesley Roberts is a business coach and adventurer. In 2000 she began a 16-year corporate career with Mars Inc, spending 8 years in commercial roles before moving into people development where she brought her insights from working outdoors to her coaching work with leadership teams and executives.

In 2011/12 Lesley had a chance to experience all Nature has to offer when she participated in the Clipper Round The World Yacht Race.  It tested her limits and gave her insights about life, leadership, and teamwork in the most extreme environments.

A very accomplished coach with a passion, Lesley started Brave Conversations in 2016 and Coaching Outdoors in 2019. She brings all she has learned about people development and leadership from; working with youth at risk in the Highlands of Scotland, the corporate world and global yacht racing, to her work.   Whether it be a hill walk or a stroll along a river, Lesley has found that nature offers a powerful environment for supporting and enhancing both coach and client experience.

Lesley holds an MSC in Executive Coaching from Ashridge Business school, her research focused on ‘How are we in nature and how does that shape the quality of our coaching conversations?’.  She is an EMCC Senior Practitioner and the proud winner of the Global EMCC Coaching Award for her ‘Getting Started’ and ‘Nature as Co-Facilitator’ coach training programmes.
