Learning Journal

Learning, our chapter's publication, is embracing technological advances and moving to a continuous online format, instead of its former quarterly format, beginning March 2012.
We are actively and continuously seeking content for our regular columns, feature articles and other coaching-related materials contributed by our members. Look for and/or contribute to these regular features:

  • Book Reviews
  • Learning Resources (includes tips, techniques, tools, methodologies)
  • Theoretically Speaking (application of theory to practice)
  • Takeaways (learning at chapter, regional, national or international ICF events or other coaching-related programs)
  • News to Me (shout out for members quoted in publications, featured on radio or TV, announcing new product/publication)
  • Buzz on Biz Development
  • Inspiration (art, poetry, story, movie, CD)
  • NEW! - Lessons Learned (an advice column that will address anonymous questions about your practice or situations you have been faced with to receive helpful advice and answers from your fellow members who may have faced similar situations in the past.)

Have you met someone that inspired you? Did you hear an interesting speaker that you could interview and share a summary of your conversation with the rest of us? Did you recently read a book others might benefit from? Authors love to be interviewed so don’t hesitate to reach out to them through their websites and share where their inspiration came from with the rest of us.

The deadline is the 25th of the month to be included in next month’s content.

Feature articles may present such material as coaching models or methodologies, case studies, or even a-ha moments and what you learned. Submissions should be between 500 and 1000 words, sent in a Microsoft Word document using 12 point Times New Roman font and double spaced. Your work needs to be your own original creation with proper notation of sources, etc. Hyperlinks are always great and the more qualified sources you can pull from the better. Your bio of less than 100 words should be at the end of your document. Any other graphics/charts you would like included as well as your professional photo should accompany your submission as separate attachments.

There is no guarantee we can include every submission, but we will do our best to share any and all articles presented. We do not pay royalties for articles submitted. Don’t be shy if you haven’t published something in the past as we do have a team of editors who will go over your submission for grammatical errors before publishing!

To see your name in print, consider submitting material to ICF Metro DC's Learning.
