Chapter Goals Come From 4B Perspective

By Barbara Smith
Chapter President

What are ICF Metro DC chapter’s strategic priorities?

Where will our Board of Directors focus in 2013?

How will each board member contribute to achieving our 2013 priorities?

How can our chapter provide greater value to members?

Our 2013 Board of Directors explored these and other key questions were during a Board planning retreat on January 11. Our full day of dialogue, debate and decision making was ably led by one of our own coaches, Valerie Lingeman. Our purpose was to move our chapter forward, using a 4B perspective; creating a Bodacious Goal that moves our chapter toward a Bolder, Bigger and Broader impact on our members and our profession.

During our lively meeting, the Bodacious Goal became clear: to “Design and deliver a member-centered professional coach development agenda that is high quality, varied in delivery and meets our member’s drive for both personal and professional success.”

To accomplish this Goal, we know we can count on you, our engaged members to help shape professional coach development agenda by:

•    Giving open and honest feedback on our monthly programs and our Capital Coaches Conference
•    Joining discussions on how best to expand our current programs and events
•    Participating in focused group gatherings to better target our professional development agenda to meet the varying levels of experience and diverse coaching practices of our members
•    Actively partnering with our Board and each other to create the change in our professional coach development agenda you want to see

If you are interested in working with us on our Bodacious Goal, please contact Jane Kerschner at 301.718.0125 or any of our board members.

New Chapter President Excited for 2013

Barbara Smith, Chapter PresidentBy Barbara Smith
Chapter President

It with great pleasure, humility and enthusiasm that I move into the presidency of the ICF Metro DC chapter. I am energized by so many of you who contacted with wonderful ideas for making 2013 a banner year for our chapter. And I am thrilled to welcome you to our chapter's brand-new website.

Our chapter is nearly 800 strong and reflects, in many ways, the amazing growth of our ICF Global organization. From a concept that began 17 years ago with a notion to create a professional organization for coaches, we have grown to become a truly global organization of coaches with more than 23,000 members in over 106 countries.  And with our new minimum eligibility requirement requiring 60 hours of coach training to attain membership, we are well on our way to even greater professionalism.

On behalf our fully committed and highly invigorated 2013 Board of Directors, we look forward to a purposeful and productive year, in partnership with our members and the Metro DC coaching community.
